Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. I need not say much more. I love this film. We watched it in class. I have been a big fan of Monty Python since I was little and my dad first had me watch it with him. The dry British humor is always a breath of fresh air in the time of slapstick mindless comedy we live in now. Most of the humor in the movie is also subtle and can be taken for stupid babblings rather than jokes. That’s many people’s reactions to it. I think you kind of have to be in a silly mood to watch Monty Python for the first time. I enjoyed the fact that I was also allowed to bring friends. Having friends with you when watching a comedy movie, you can enjoy it more because you are with people of like humor.

The class watched Ghost in the Shell. I have heard about it before we watched it in class, and I heard many things about it but I didn’t expect that. The movie was an ok movie. It brings up many different questions when it comes to machines and humans and how the line can blur in the future. But despite all the issues it brought up it seemed very preachy. I think it may be the dubbing, I discussed it with one of my friends who has seen both versions and he said the subtitle version is much better. The action and the rest of the movie were good. I’m not a big fan of anime though. I’ve watched some dragon ball, but other than that I haven’t been exposed to it. If I had been exposed, I’m sure I’d enjoy it more. That’s what happens, people like what they see and grow up with.

This semester I have, not only played the video games assigned in class, but I've had the chance to play many video games. Grand Theft Auto 3 is a good game. It is a shooting game and it is a driving game. I prefer the driving games to have real cars and not just ones that look like cars and have different names. Other than that, I have no problem with the game. There were many different ways I could have gone with the game plot; example would be to do more jobs for one person, making me enemies of different people. It was great. Another game I played was Hit man 2. That was a third person shooter game that is different from the normal ones where you kill everyone. This one you have to be quiet and sneaky like a real hit man. Each of the games I played had a storyline to follow. GTA3 has multiple ways to win the game and Hit man only has one way to end the game. If you win you always get the same ending with it. The GTA3 way allows a user to play the game over and over. Hit man 2 I played once and got through it and have no real desire to go through it again. Over the semester I have grown to understand and appreciate how video games are now telling a full story. Although I must say that the old games with no real story other than kill the bad guy, are still fond in my mind. I enjoyed the gaming with other people in the computer labs at school. That type of gaming environment is fun to play is because everyone is playing something, but it is harder to get into your own game with all of the distractions.

This week, we were supposed to watch a movie in class, but class was canceled. I read Blade of the Immortal this week. It's an ok book. I'm not too keen on it though. I'm not used to reading manga. I'm more of a US comic kind of guy. Action, action, action, thats what I like to see. The action in Blade of the Immortal is a little more ambiguous because it's more artistic and less look he's hitting him there and she's punching her here. I also am a fan of colorful stuff. Blade of the Immortal is not so much colorful, it's black and white. Not too eye catching and also it being black and white makes it hard to differentiate the characters. They all look alike and especially in fight scenes, I have no idea what's going on. I don't really like it, but it's different.
I've been playing Hitman2 : Silent Assassin this week since GTA3 no longer catches my attention. I enjoy this game because there are many ways to play it. I can go into a level and play it like I play the rest of my video games and kill everyone. It's pretty hard because then I have to face everyone at once, but then once I kill everyone the level is pretty easy. The other way to play is play all stealthy. This way is equally as hard just because of the basic fact that I'm not used to trying to be all stealthy in video games. There are a lot less people to kill that way, but it's a lot more stressful. I get more of a thrill sometimes from playing that way. The only problem I have with the game is the fact that it lags my computer, even though my computer is a fast one. I think it's probably a bug in the program. I'm going to look for a patch to fix it later otday.

This week I have given up on GTA3. Its a fun game, but I can't play a game for more than a few weeks without getting bored with it. I mean its a good game, very humorous, but its old now. I lost interest in it and I haven't even beaten it. Part of this is because I just got a new game Hitman 2. Very cool, very realistic. But over all other than playing Hitman 2 a bit, I have been playing Counter Strike a lot. Multiplayer interfaces are fun, because it’s never the same thing over and over again. New people come in or you find a new server and everything is always fresh and new and you have to adapt to it or you lose. A constantly changing challenge makes multiplayer games fun. Not to mention the trash talking. Its always fun. So yea. I gave up on GTA3, I hope we play in the circa lab sometime soon so I can bring in Hitman 2. The music is great and the graphics are incredible. The only thing though about it, is you are not constantly shooting people. It's more about steal and such. That’s a trait I have yet to master. I am used to all these run up and shoot people games. Kill everyone was my motto. But If I follow that In Hitman2 I'm screwed, everyone comes and kills me. SO I will adapt my gaming skills. I'm sure once I adapt and begin getting really good at the game I'll grow tired of it as well and go back to my ever changing Counter Strike.
I’ll combine my two entries into one. We watched some anime this week in class. The first one was ok. The only real vampire stuff I like is Blade, and that’s about it. So it was decent. The other anime we watched I thought was crap. Oh well. You win some you lose some. I forget what else we are supposed to talk about but this is over 300 words. Woohoo.

Now for my technology response. Yes I realize I misspelled response on the name of this area. next, GTA3 is a great game. I got to the other island in the game and on the first job to assassinate the gangster head guy I did it the easy way. I used some money and bought the sniper rifle. I stayed a bit away and when the guy came out, I shot his head off and jumped in my car and sped away. It was so easy. My roommate tried to do the same as well as some of my friends but they couldn't. Once again my markmanship is unmatched. I get very involved in the game when I play, especially if its dark outside and i turn off the lights, so the only light i see comes from the screen. We played some games this week in the CIRCA lab, but i never can get into it there, there are too many distractions. I played Alice, I got about as far as I did last time, but I did it more quickly, I still couldn't get past jumping on those books to the other portal. Oh well.
This week we watched the Honeymooners in class. I thought it was funny. The way that most other sitcoms follow the set up as them is interesting and the way that they got that same set up from Vaudeville theatre was even more interesting. Also in class, I read Scott McClouds web site. I don't think he is that great, but he is not horrible either. I mean sure he oversimplifies everything and is very egocentric in the way he puts himself into almost everything he does. I think sometimes in a class where people don't have a true opinion on everything sometimes they grasp a hold of the instructors opinion and never bother to think and make their own. I think thats a problem with our class, no one ever disagrees. I think I might start proposing counter points and thoughts just so maybe the class can see two sides of things we read or learn about.

I didn't play GTA3 much this week. I've been under a lot of stress from my classes so I only played a little bit. When i did play i didn't have any desire to do any jobs or anything, I just wanted to destroy things. I went online and found the guns cheat. I like the sniper rifle, its definatly the weapon of choice on most video games I play. I consider myself an excellent video game marksman. When I wasn't sniping people I always would have fun stealing cop cars. Once you get the hang of it, it's not too hard. I would try to take their car, they would get out, I would run away and they persue. Once they are away from the door, I sprint back get in the car and run them over. I find running them over is a lot more gratifying than mowing down some poor hooker. Next week I'll get back to jobs and get to the other island.
This week we had the wonderful opprotunity to go into the CIRCA lab class room and use their computers to play our viedo games on Wednesday. It was fun. I mean, I didn't have an original copy of GTA3 with me so I started off by watching Jason play Alice. Well, actually we had a problem with the first computer because it's sound did not work. Eventually we found a computer with working sound and started playing. Luckily, he lost his attention to the game when he noticed all the other games, so I got to play it quite a bit. It's exactly like Alice in Wonderland, but on crack. It was so sick and twisted, but it was fun. Lots of puzzles and enough violence to keep my attention. The only thing I didn't like about the computers the class was using was that the sound sucked. I would have had a better expereience If I could have brought my speakers in to use.

Subject : GTA3
I have my copy of GTA3. I like that game. I like it even more because it's a computer game rather than a console game. I used to be a big console kind of guy, with all my Nintendos and such, then this summer I started playing computer games because I have a really fast computer. I like computer games so much more than console games, unless it’s a sports game, then I’d much rather be on a console. Anyways, GTA3 is great for computer, I had no problems loading it on, and I downloaded some patches and got rid of the loading game glitch. Yea, I tried to load a game and it froze, so I fixed that right up. I set my controls to my normal settings when I play computer games. Same jump button, same zoom button of the sniper rifle, etc. I like the whole working for the mob thing, its kind of cool, but a little shady. Oh well, this game is fun. I found the car shop down by Q-ball or 8 ball or whatever his name is. It has a really nice Viper imitation car in it. I like it.

All right I just learned a valuable lesson with this web site. It sucks. It's free so what can I do? I prefer live journal but that’s kind of hard to get a journal there cause you either have to buy a journal or get a code from a friend. I have given out all my codes to my friends and they haven't had it long enough to receive codes to give out, so I am stuck here. I had just written a huge entry on here about GTA3 and how cool it is and console vs. computer, then I looked around to try to see if this page had spell check. I clicked something and it took me to another page on Blogger, then I clicked the back button and normally it would store what I typed so when I come it's still there. Well it doesn't. That sucks. So I guess instead of having my first entry be about how cool GTA3 is, my entry is all about how much Blogger sucks.
